What to expect

It’s completely normal to feel a range of emotions—excitement, nervousness, or even uncertainty—about the idea of opening up and sharing your thoughts and feelings. Taking this step toward your well-being is significant, and it’s okay to acknowledge any discomfort you might feel along the way.

I hope this information helps ease some common concerns and makes you feel more comfortable and prepared for your first session.

Your first session

Our first appointment is a chance for us to explore what’s brought you to therapy and start building an understanding of how we can work together.

We’ll talk about your current experiences and touch on your background, including family, relationships, and significant life events. This helps me gain insight into the factors shaping your coping strategies and allows me to tailor my approach to support your goals.

There’s a lot to cover, so this process often unfolds over a few sessions. Most individuals and families find this first step to be a helpful foundation for moving forward.

Fees and Rebates

Fees

Each session is $180, which includes the time we spend together, session planning, and any follow-up administrative tasks.

If you’re eligible for a Medicare rebate, the out-of-pocket cost is reduced to $95.

Discounts may be available to those experiencing financial difficulties.

Rebates

With a referral/ Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician, Medicare will rebate $85.20 per session, for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year.

After 6 sessions, a review by your GP can allow rebates for another 4 sessions.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel your appointment, please let me know as soon as reasonably possible.

This allows me to offer the time to other clients who may also be in need of support.
